Pastoral Care and Support

Providing comfort and quiet for patients and families

At Ellis Medicine, we recognize that the expression of spirituality is a very personal matter. We understand that being hospitalized often raises issues of a spiritual and practical nature for our patients and their family members. During a hospitalization you may look to what has provided strength in the past or you may seek additional support as you deal with current circumstances. Staff chaplains are available 7 days a week and with the assistance of Pastoral Care volunteers will assist you as pastoral needs arise.

How to Reach Us

You can reach the Pastoral Care office at 518.243.4158. If the need is immediate call the hospital operator at Ellis Hospital at 518.243.4000 and ask for the on-call chaplain.

Quiet Places at Ellis Hospital

Ellis Hospital is pleased to provide two quiet and comfortable spaces for patients, their families and for those seeking respite, reflection or simply some "down time" while at the Hospital.

  • The Liebers Interfaith Chapel Contemplation Room offers a beautiful view and serene surroundings. Here you can decompress, breathe deeply and tap into sources that give you strength. You may also engage in quiet conversation.
  • Chaplains provide an Interfaith Prayer Service in the chapel every Wednesday at 3pm
  • The Meditation Room is an intimate place for personal spiritual reflection or prayer.
  • Both of these spaces are located on the 6th floor, A-wing of Ellis Hospital.

If you would like to submit a prayer request, please email pastoralcare@ellismedicine.org.
