Incisionless Surgery

Chronic Heartburn/Acid Reflux - Incisionless Surgery

Through the work of Dr. Terence Clarke, Ellis Medicine now offers incisionless surgery for treatment of chronic heartburn/acid reflux disease, also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

This new procedure, called "TIF" (Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication) is an innovative treatment that reconstructs the barrier between the stomach and esophagus to prevent stomach fluids from refluxing in the esophagus - a typical cause of heartburn or reflux.

TIF is minimally invasive, performed through the mouth instead of an incision, and offers patients less pain, less risk, and no scars, among other benefits. A recent study showed 93% of patients remained free of heartburn after this procedure, and 79% remained off daily medications two years after the procedure.
