2023 Family Medicine Residency Commencement

Thursday, June 22, 2023

It's official, the residents of the 2023 Family Residency Program graduated!  Last week, the Family Medicine Residency program celebrated with family, friends, faculty, and guests from all parts of the World. Graduates gathered and accepted their graduation certificates as a rite of passage from one generation of physicians to the next.

Dr. John Petrillo, DO, Program Director, emphasized his appreciation for this class.

So, graduates, in closing, please know that I personally want to thank you for your time, your energy, your care. You have trained in this institution and community with humility, grace, and kindness leaving it better for those that will come after you. We have watched you advocate, stand your ground, and use important principles as your true North.  We respect and appreciate that.”

Petrillo further reflects "Our graduates have not only devoted their time to learning the specialty of Family Medicine, but they have also devoted time to care for members of all ages in this community.  In many ways, the members of this community who are underserved and most at risk.  They practice full-spectrum Family Medicine from walk-in care to seeing pregnant mothers, managing them leading up to delivering that child and caring for the person throughout their lifetime.  They are remarkable people who I have the utmost respect for.  I think they make us better as a program and as an institution."

The Family Medicine Residency program continues to serve the hospital and patients of Ellis Medicine profoundly. Ellis Medicine's administration, medical community and ancillary staff commit their full support to ensuring the continuing success of residents and interns.

We congratulate the 2023 graduates and look forward to meeting the newest class of residents and interns!
