LeapFrog scores continue to improve, showing progress on safety

Schenectady, N.Y. – Ellis Medicine has shown continued improvements on quality, safety, and efficiency measures, earning a “B” rating, according to the latest LeapFrog scores, which were released today. The LeapFrog Hospital Survey evaluates hospital performance nationally. It assess performance on measures of safety, quality, and efficiency of inpatient and outpatient care.

In the previous LeapFrog survey, Ellis was awarded a “C” rating, which was an improvement over earlier scores. “This most recent achievement is further proof of the significant progress our entire team has made,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nicholas Montalto. “Improving our LeapFrog scores was one of our goals under the Management Service Agreement with St. Peter’s Health Partners, and this is one more encouraging sign that we’re moving in the right direction.”

Ellis improved its LeapFrog grade to a “B” from a low rating of “F” in 2020. Further, it was the only hospital in the region to receive a “B” grade; only Saratoga Hospital scored higher with an “A.”

This success could not have occurred without the teamwork they displayed and the dedication they have to the patients we serve,” said Ellis Medicine President & CEO Paul Milton. “While the new rating is a great accomplishment, there is still more to do as we continue to make operational, efficiency and financial improvements in tandem with our ongoing safety and quality initiatives,” Milton said.
