We did it!

As you may know, Ellis Medicine marked Breast Cancer Awareness month with Mammothon 2022, a partnership between Ellis/Bellevue Woman’s Center, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and WTEN/Ch. 10. Our goal was to get 200 women to sign up for their mammogram during the week of Oct. 17 -21, and 375 scheduled their appointments—surpassing our goal by 87.5 percent! If you were one of them, thank you and congratulations.

Our Oct. 19 Live Drive on WTEN was a big part of our success, and we want to thank everyone who made it possible. We especially appreciate the brave breast cancer survivors who told their stories live on air, the Ellis and Roswell Park physicians who gave of their time, the call center workers who answered the phones, and the amazing staff in our Radiology Department and at Bellevue. Your efforts saved lives.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month may be over, but the fight against breast cancer is not. We encourage you to remind the women in your life about the importance of annual mammograms..

To schedule a mammogram at either Bellevue Woman’s Center or Ellis Hospital, call 518.243.3333. Our 3D mammography allows radiologists to get a closer look at any area of the breast tissue. Combined with computer-assisted detection capability, 3D Mammography helps us diagnose cancer sooner.

Plus, as a Roswell Park Care Network member, we can connect women with abnormal mammograms to a range of treatment options if they need it.

Media inquiries should be directed to the Communications Department at Ellis Medicine. The Communications Department is open and staffed Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. The department can be reached by phone at 518.232.9288. If you leave a message your call will typically be returned within 24 hours.
