It’s important to understand that, for many healthcare procedures, you have a choice regarding where you receive care. To help you make that choice, Ellis Medicine offers price shopping tools that allow you to estimate the cost of care for 300 commonly “shopped” services. This can help you to find the best provider when scheduling your care appointment.

This includes high volume tests or procedures for which you can look to various local providers to understand the pricing differences that may apply. Some examples would include laboratory and radiology (imaging) services and elective surgical procedures.

Don’t see your particular service or have a question about the cost you are seeing? Please call the Price Line at 518.243.1695 Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and we’ll be happy to assist you.

You may also call your insurance company. They will be able to verify the benefit structure with you and confirm what to expect as an out-of-pocket price for the services you are inquiring about.

The pricing information contained here is informational only.  Your final amount owed depends on the actual medical services you receive and how your insurance processes the claim according to your eligibility and benefits.

Ellis Medicine Standard Services and Charges

An Ellis Chargemaster List  is a list of all billable services and items provided by a hospital. The schedule reflects gross charges for a given service or item, regardless of payer type. Charge Description Masters are updated frequently to accurately reflect the cost of services in the hospital.

Standard Charges and Payment Rates

The standard charge file is a machine-readable file that can be downloaded. The file contains the following:

Gross Cost – the Gross charge of the line item as found on the Hospital’s Chargemaster. The Chargemaster is a hospital’s complete list of all products and services. This amount is billed to both insurance companies and the uninsured prior to any discounts.

Discounted Cash Price – the expected payment for the un-insured patient who is paying cash (or cash equivalent) for the services rendered.

Rate – the negotiated rate of payment that Ellis has agreed to accept from a third party payor (insurance company) as payment in full

Rate_Low - the lowest amount that Ellis has agreed to as payment from a de-identified third-party payor
