Nursing at Ellis
More than 1,000 nurses care for patients every day at Ellis Medicine’s four campuses – Ellis Hospital, McClellan Street Health Center, Bellevue Woman’s Center and Medical Center of Clifton Park – and various support services locations throughout the Capital Region.
Ellis nurses provide patient-focused, compassionate and high-quality care. Ellis’ nursing philosophy is based on the Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring.
Clinical Ladder Program
Ellis Medicine offers a clinical ladder program called Clinical Achievement and Recognition of Excellence (CARE). The clinical ladder program includes six levels and based on points. Each level requires additional points and education. Upon completion of the clinical ladder program, a celebration is held and nurses are given a monetary reward.
Journey to Magnet Designation
Ellis is currently on its Magnet Journey. Ellis nurses are divided into four teams (Exemplary Professional Practice, New Knowledge & Innovations, Leadership and Nursing Empowerment). Each team has a different focus and unit-based forums to address specific issues. Nurses participate in decision making and changes.
