A Letter to our Patients About the COVID Vaccine

Friday, February 5, 2021

Dear Valued Patient,

This letter is in response to many patients and community members who have recently contacted our offices inquiring about getting a COVID-19 vaccine. We are encouraged and enthused that so many of you want the vaccine, but unfortunately Ellis medicine has not been designated as a vaccine site for either our patients or the community at large.

This is true for all Ellis Medicine primary care and specialty offices.

We know you are all eager to get vaccinated. Please know vaccination locations are set by New York State, and requirements – and vaccine availability – are frequently changing. Currently, New York State is vaccinating individuals in Phase 1A and 1B (these categories are made up of health care workers, emergency responders, police officers, teachers, those age 65 and over, among others).

To determine if you are eligible to receive the COVID vaccine, as well as what locations are presently administering the vaccine, we encourage you to visit the NYS COVID-19 vaccine website (https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/). This online tool will also allow you to see available vaccination times, as well as book an appointment. You may also call the vaccine hotline, from 7 AM - 10 PM, 7 days a week, to schedule a vaccination appointment:
1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829). Appointments are required at all locations.

Other helpful sources of information include:

As you can imagine, there is high demand for the vaccine. We encourage all our patients to be vaccinated when they are eligible. The state is booking appointments several months out. Additional appointments, however, will be added as supplies increase.

For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine, please see the attached FAQ.

Sincerely,

Your Ellis Medicine Care Team
