Hospital technicians, also on the front lines, provide important care

In the time of COVID or any era, frontline healthcare workers include a multitude of hospital technicians whose efforts hold the ship afloat -- and whose presence, while significant and ubiquitous, might go unnoticed by the general population.
They work in medical labs. They run diagnostic equipment. They count out pills in the pharmacy. Or consider the role of patient care technicians, for instance: They’re everywhere, on all the medical floors, doing the hands-on work that assists nurses and helps patients throughout the day.
“They’re, like, the foundation of the unit. They’re the eyes and ears of the nurse,” said Dan Rivers, supervisor of the patient care techs at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
