Schenectady healthcare organizations team up to bring COVID-19 testing to city neighborhoods

Mobile test sites pop up to support community need
as availability of tests increases

Ellis Medicine, Schenectady County Public Health Services, Hometown Health Centers and MVP Health Care have collaborated to develop mobile sites that will bring COVID-19 testing to underserved neighborhoods in the City of Schenectady.

The sites will be available for both foot traffic and drive-through traffic, though the primary goal is to reach symptomatic people who are without access to transportation, or face other barriers to testing. No prescriptions are needed and tests will be offered to those with or without insurance.

There is an urgent need to expand the number of symptomatic people who are tested. By identifying more COVID-positive people, these four Schenectady County-based organizations are aiming to minimize the risk of spread, and also help build a database of people who, after full recovery, may be candidates to donate their antibody-containing plasma to help combat the virus in others.

This expansion is made possible because of an increase in testing supplies, though high demand continues to present serious challenges. With the roll out of this project, there have been requests for additional kits and supplies from the New York State Department of Health.

With support from Schenectady County Public Health Services and MVP Health Care, Ellis will host testing at a series of sites. Be on the lookout for added sites and dates in the near future.

Public Notice: Please find below this week's COVID-19 testing sites and schedule.
